New Zealand Private Yacht Charters – Example Yacht Charter Itinerary – New Zealand Itenerary

Day 1.  Auckland – Arrive in the “The City of Sails” and meet your yacht you have chartered from Taylor’d Yacht Charters in one of the many marinas catering to New Zealand’s megayacht fleet.  Learn the history of the isles you are about to see at the Auckland Museum, which also features live performances by Maori dancers.

Day 2.  Waiheke Island – Rangitoto Volcano dominates the skyline as you cruise into Hauraki Gulf.  Stop to climb and picnic on its flower strewn slopes.  Spend the afternoon winetasting on Waiheke Island, which has 24 wineries, then dine on local shellfish at Vino Vino.

Day 3.  Coromandel Peninsula – Run east in your yacht from Taylor’d Yacht Charters to Coromandel Town on the peninsula of the same name.  This sleepy burg was once a booming metropolis after Charles Ring discovered gold two miles north in 1852.  Visit the Coromandel Mining and Historical Museum for a look back at the town’s golden past.

Day 4.  Tryphena, Great Barrier Island – Great Barrier is the largest island in the Hauraki Gulf.  Pull into Tryphena, the most populous settlement, and spend the day on wide Medlands Beach or soak in the Kaitoke Hot Springs.  That evening, be grateful for your yacht’s plentiful power that you rented from Taylor’d Yacht Charters, as the island still has no electricity.

Day 5.  Port Fitzroy, Great Barrier Island – Move north to Port Fitzroy, one of the nicest natural harbors in New Zealand and home to many endangered bird species.  Hike Warren’s Track to see a waterfall and a plantation where Kauri, a native wood prized for boatbuilding, was harvested.

Day 6.  Kawau Island – Circling back around the gulf in your chartered yacht, visit Kawau Island and tour Mansion House, the handsome Victorian home of the late 19th century New Zealand governor, Sir George Grey.

New Zealand Private Yacht Charter – Day 7.  Auckland – Spend your final day in Auckland browsing the shops in the charming Devonport neighborhood, or if you’re feeling brave, bungee jump off Auckland Harbour Bridge to dip your toes in the water 131 feet below.
