WESTERN MEXICO YACHT CHARTERS
Manzanillo, Puerto Vallarta, Bahia Navidad are ideal charter destinations during the winter months for your chartered yacht from Taylor’d Yacht Charters. Halfway between Puerto Vallarta and Acapulco lies Bahia Navidad also known as Barra de Navidad. Rich in history, Bahia Navidad is limitless in its beauty from rugged jungle to white sand beaches with everything from steep mountain ranges to coconut plantations in between. Imagine a 200 slip mega yacht marina and a five star resort, the new Grand Bay Hotel. Complete with a golf course, tennis courts, and cascading pools that connect by water slides ending at the main pool. This main pool has a swim up bar under a large palapa. Manzanillo airport is just 20 minutes away and boasts a 7,200 foot runway that can handle the largest private jets, as well as non-stop commercial flights from LA, Phoenix, and Dallas/Ft. Worth.
Puerto Vallarta is yet another example of old meeting new with centuries old architecture rising above the rooftops in the form of numerous church steeples. In the morning the rising mist blanketing the city is a sight worth waking up for.
From the rugged reputation of Tijuana, to the once sleepy fishing village of Cabo San Lucas, what is known as the Baja Peninsula connects the wealth of California to the desert simplicity of old Mexico. The world famous big game fishing grounds of Cabo San Lucas has over the past 30 years transformed that sleepy village of “Cabo” into a four star destination. It is known internationally for its party hard attitude and sailfish tournaments.
MEXICO: BAJA AND THE SEA OF CORTES
Extending for 900 miles, Mexico’s Baja peninsula is a yachtsman’s playground, offering amazing views, excellent snorkeling and diving, and above all, spectacular sportfishing.
For those who love to fish, few areas offer greater opportunities for big catches, including 1,000-pound “grander” marlin. High stakes tournaments are the order of the day, attracting some of the top anglers in the world. Delectable fish, such as dorado and yellowfin tuna, are found here as well. Nothing beats a day of fishing topped off by your chef grilling your catch on board your yacht that you have chartered from Taylor’d Yacht Charters.
Worldly pleasures have not been neglected here. The Baja peninsula boasts everything from sprawling modern resorts to tiny, family run restaurants. The food is sensuous and surprisingly worldly, ranging from fresh lobsters prepared on your yacht to the upscale cuisine found in Cabo San Lucas and La Paz. The Mexican people love to celebrate. Fiestas abound just about any time of the year, making any trip to Baja a celebration.
There’s so much to see and do here that dozens of itineraries could be offered. Many charter yachts are based in Cabo, home to legendary nightlife in addition to offshore fishing. For the following vacation, we moved north to La Paz in order to take advantage of its proximity to the Sea of Cortez with its rocky isles, sunset colored cliffs and abundant marine life.
